John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who was a specialist in folk music, has touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's national anthems to his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver." In 2011 Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. He has become the personification of Colorado for everyone around the world. Certainly in my travels you come across someone on the opposite part of the globe, or someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles after he performed with smaller folk groups. It was co-written by and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized it was destined to be the next hit single. The song was recorded by the singer only a few days afterward when he performed it in front of an enthusiastic audience at Washington D.C.
